ASERC Grants Interim Licence to FPEDC as Anambra Assumes Full Regulatory Control

The Anambra State Electricity Regulatory Commission (ASERC) has formally issued an interim electricity distribution licence to the First Power Electricity Distribution Company Limited (FPEDC). This strategic action aligns FPEDC’s operations with the Anambra State Electricity Law, 2025, following the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) transfer of regulatory oversight to ASERC effective 17 October 2025.

The event featured the ASERC leadership team, FPEDC representatives, the Commissioner for Power, the Commissioner for Information, and a representative from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

The interim licence:

• Commenced: 27 November 2025
• Expires: 26 November 2026

This milestone marks a critical step in ASERC’s transition toward a fully State-regulated electricity market, strengthening local oversight and operational accountability within Anambra’s power sector.
