Engr. Nosike Emmanuel Nwalieji is a COREN-registered electrical engineer and accomplished public sector professional with nearly four decades of experience in Nigeria’s power and infrastructure sectors. His career spans technical practice, policy implementation, and regional cooperation in the electricity supply industry, with a strong focus on consumer interests, infrastructure expansion, and sector reform.
Education & Professional Development
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering and Computer Science from the Enugu State University of Technology. Over the course of his career, he has complemented this academic foundation with advanced professional training in Nigeria, South Korea, Dubai, China, the United States of America, and across West Africa, strengthening his capacity in power systems engineering, project management, and sector regulation.
Career in Power & Infrastructure
Before joining the Anambra State Electricity Regulatory Commission (ASERC), Engr. Nwalieji served as Director of Transmission Services at the Federal Ministry of Power, where he oversaw the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and chaired the Technical Committee of the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) Power Board. In these roles, he provided leadership on transmission expansion, network reliability, and coordination among key power sector stakeholders.
Earlier in his career, he held senior engineering roles in the Federal Ministry of Defence and the Federal Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, where he managed major electrification and infrastructure projects across Nigeria. His work in these ministries contributed to improving energy access, enhancing infrastructure resilience, and supporting national development objectives.
Regional & International Contributions
Engr. Nwalieji has also made significant contributions at the regional level, representing Nigeria in the West African Power Pool (WAPP) and ECOWAS technical forums. Through these platforms, he has been involved in the development of regional electricity codes, operational standards, and market frameworks that guide cross-border power trade and improve system reliability across West Africa.
Professional Recognition
A registered engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Engr. Nwalieji is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Power Engineers (NIPE), and a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Administrators. He also holds an honorary doctorate from the European American University, recognising his contributions to engineering, administration, and public service in the power sector.

As Executive Commissioner in charge of Consumer Affairs, Planning, Research & Strategy at ASERC, Engr. Nwalieji brings a wealth of technical expertise, leadership experience, and a deep commitment to electricity sector reform in Anambra State. His mandate includes safeguarding consumer interests, guiding evidence-based regulatory decisions, and supporting long-term planning and strategic development of the electricity market in the state.
